Happy Friday! Today I’m sharing a little secret weapon that’s been making my #newmom life feel a little less ridiculous these days. Meet my new UviCube! What’s a UviCube you ask? Simple — it’s a first of its kind sterilizer that uses UV light to eliminate 99.9% of bacteria on all things like baby bottles, nipples and pacifiers, electronics, mobile phones, toys and other items babies love to put in their mouths! (BONUS: it’s on sale for the holidays! Use code FALALA16 for $30 off + Free Shipping!)…get it for a new mom friend, or heck get it for you because #treatyoself!

One of the things I enjoy the least about my tiny human these days is how everything MUST go in her mouth. EVERYTHING. I know, I know — veteran moms just rolled their eyes at me because DUH (that’s what babies do!), but seriously, us newbie parents just can’t even deal. And why didn’t anyone tell me I’d be washing and sanitizing bottles and other baby accessories until my hands shriveled up? Cleaning and sanitizing all the things is the worst!

Feeding bottles, pumping parts, my phone? Cue the anxiety. So then you can also imagine how much my stress went into overdrive, as I went back to work and Arya recently started nursery school! We love her new caregivers and the program is top notch, but with it comes a whole new routine that’s taking some getting used to. News flash — if you thought cleaning was exhausting before, just wait until you have to start trekking things back and forth between home and nursery school! baby products, baby must haves, sterilizer, easy sanitizer, uvicube sanitizer, uvicube

Orchestrating the sending (and then cleaning) of an entire set of bottles, spoons, containers etc quickly became a daily logistical nightmare. Disassemble, wash, dry, reassemble, fill, pack, repeat = one exhausted mom. But UviCube can quickly handle most of that and sanitize almost anything (within reason).baby products, baby must haves, sterilizer, easy sanitizer, uvicube sanitizer, uvicube

There’s so much flexibility with the UviCube, it fits right on the counter, and it easily handles both cleaning and sanitizing! With three different cycles, all you do is pick the one you need, load it up and shut the door. Anything that allows me to set it and forget gets big praise in my book!

Here’s how the cycles work:

  • The Dry+UV cycle is 35 minutes of drying time, plus 10 minutes of sanitization
  • The Sanitize only cycle is 10 minutes for items sensitive to heat and moisture (think cell phones, remotes, small electronic toys)
  • The Circulation cycle is recommended if you feel the need for additional drying

But what’s so special about UV light anyway? UviCube reinvents how we look at sanitizing everyday items. UV-A and UV-B light naturally reach the earth’s surface (it’s what can cause sunburns). However, UV-C light from the sun is stopped at the ozone layer where it is absorbed. UV-C breaks the molecular bonds within micro-organismal DNA and destroys them. This disrupts vital cellular functions, effectively killing it. And what does it kill exactly? Nasty things like Salmonella Entercia, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebesiella pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus, and Escherichia coli. Sure, the common cold is normal, but the others aren’t exactly the kinds of germs you want your little one being exposed to!

Since rotating the UviCube into our daily routine I’ve been able to spend less time after work prepping for the next day, and more time rolling around on the floor with Arya. I’m getting more and more comfortable with the groud in general, because that’s just how babies learn! I don’t want to stop her from exploring, but I’m glad I can do a little bit to help make sure some nasty germs don’t get the chance to explore with her!baby products, baby must haves, sterilizer, easy sanitizer, uvicube sanitizer, uvicube

Now that’s a handy sterilizer. I want one for my babies.

What do you think?
